
Medicaid provides low-cost health insurance to millions of Americans. And with Montana’s recent Medicaid expansion, more people can get coverage. Here are the top four questions people ask about Medicaid eligibility.
Am I eligible?
Visit the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (MT DPHHS) website to find out if you qualify for Medicaid. Click on the “Am I Eligible?” tab (top, right corner of the screen) to answer a series of questions. After working through the questions, the website will tell you if you qualify for Medicaid.
Where do I apply?
You can apply online by going to the MT DPHHS website and clicking on the “Apply for Assistance” tab. The state has 45 days to approve your application. If you are asked to provide more information, you can request an extension. You can also apply using a paper application (but expect the approval to take longer).
What information is needed to apply?
